The mask of Zorro

The Mask of Zorro was released in 1998 action-packed flick directed by Martin Campbell, and features Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Stuart Wilson. Hopkins portrays the original Zorro, and trains the next Zorro as Antonio Banderas.
This movie, filmed in Mexico and Orlando, Florida, was a box office success and critically acclaimed as well. The Legend of Zorro, a sequel also featuring the same team barring Anthony Hopkins was largely considered inferior to the original.
Movie rolls out as Zorro saves the life of two Orphans and before escaping he gives his locket to one of them. Thus ruins the plot of the Governor to make Zorro fall in his trap.
Later that day the Governor finds the identity of Zorro and arrests him, Zorro’s wife is killed while trying to save Zorro. His infant daughter, Elena, is taken to Spain by Montero (Governor) to be raised as his own while Diego (Zorro) is taken to prison.
Twenty years later Montero Comes back in search of Diego to the old prison, Diego escapes that night.
Diego meets an adult Alejandro Murrieta (Antonio Banderas), whom he recognizes by the medal he awarded Joaquin (His childhood friend). Now a drunken, clumsy bandit, Alejandro is bitter over the recent murder of his brother by the sadistic Texian Army Captain Harrison Love. Diego recruits and trains Alejandro to become his successor as the next Zorro.
Film moves through various sequences and finally Demons surrender to the Angels.
the highlight of the movie is not the story which is okay, but the Screenplay and performance are at par.
Antonio is dashing as the Zorro. Catherine has all the beauty and grace and is as charming as Himalayan tulip.
Anthony Hopkins is perfect as always.
Film is worth watching once for sure.
3 and half stars out of five from my side.
