As the TITLE suggests itself its all about the uncertainty of life. It’s a phrase taken from William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Well, To be or not to be has been termed as a comedy classic by many critics; interestingly the movie flopped upon its release.
The movie chronicles the adventures of a Polish theater company before and during Nazi invasion. The sequences in the movie are so beautifully crafted that you cant help but laugh your lungs out. It is intelligently written, perfectly directed and the acting is just superb. From the very first scene you can get the idea what masterpiece you are going to watch.
The Story goes as: In occupied Poland during WWII, a troupe of ham stage actors (led by Joseph Tura and his wife Maria) match wits with the Nazis. A spy has information which would be very damaging to the Polish resistance and they must prevent it being delivered to the Germans.
I am not going to reveal the whole story, watch this masterpiece yourself for the joyride. You would amaze to see the perfect combination of comedy and literature. Here are few of my favorite scenes.
The film opens with the seemingly impossible appearance of Adolf Hitler in Warsaw (this is before the 1939 invasion). We discover that this is a local actor, Bronski from the theatre group. But His effort fails when a young girl asks for the autograph of "Mr. Bronski."
Lead actor Joseph Tura’s speech of to be or not to be.
Act of Siletsky by Joseph Tura.
The Final escape
Well these r just the few of the full bunch, and the movie is full of the laugh riot though with total seriousness. Go for it, I am sure you’d thank me for the suggestion.
