Juha- Aki Kaurismaki (1999)

A Finnish director, producer, script writer Aki Kaurismaki's is a most successful French director, he has won many awards for his movie The Man Without Out Past,, he had won Grand Pix and the Prize of the ecumenical Jury at Cannes film festival,2002. He has direted many feature films, documentaries and short stories like Crime and Punishment, The Match Factory Girl,Juha, Total Balalalika Show, Rocky VI.

Juha's is the fourth adaptation of this love triangle involving one woman and two men.The original story revolves around a poor girl who planned to marry a simple man but older than actress,Marja.




She fall in love with Russian salesman who came to there house.He lures Mara and convince her to leave the house. Marja leaves her husband, for spending better life in the city with the salesman Shemeikka. But unfortunately, her dreams become nightmare when Shimikka drags her in the prostitution.

It is a silent shot movie in black-white with a dialogue coming in the form of subtitles. Juha has been shown in many International Film Festivals like Berlin,Toronto, New Zealand, United States.

Blind Mountain

Blind Mountain was realised in 2007. It is a Chinese movie directed by Li Yang. This movie is about China's social problem. This is all about selling women for marriage in modern day China. The film opens with a young , perilously open-faced college graduate, Bai Xuemei - played Huang Lu. She was anxious to help her parents out of debt.




Bai believes that she and the strangers will be buying medicinal herbs that can be profitably sell elsewhere. In the process, she was drugged, kidnapped and sold as a bride to a villeger in the Qinling Mountains. After that she suffers from being rapped by her "husband" and after few months she gave a birth to a baby boy. With help of friends she ran away from the village but she failed.


In the end no one wins because Bai Xuemei's child is left without mother and family of her "husband" left with no daughter in-law. The ending concludes with the text that the problem of human trafficing in modern day China. This movie was nominated in International Film Festival, Bratislava 2007, Grand Pix AND Special Mention of the Ecumenical Jury.

Scarface

Scarface was released in 1983.Scarface received mixed reactions. Its a crime saga, and later on was included in top ten crime movies made ever. Movie features Al Pacino as protagonist, A Cuban refugee, who becomes a drug dealer in his urge to make quick bucks. Movie was criticized for the violence and the offensive language. But movie created a huge fan following. And did well on the box office too. Many term Scarface as a Cult.

Film explores the life of a Cuban refugee, Tony Montana (Al Pacino) and his best pal Manny Ribera (Steven Baue), how their life takes them from small restaurant to brutal world of crime. Obviously the driving force is the dirty money involved. The portrayal of Tony by Al Pacino is truly classic, He absorbed into the character so well that you completely get convinced that he is the real life drug dealer Tony Montena and go with the flow of the movie. The plot of the movie is pretty predictable, but it’s the transformation of the central character from a small time criminal to lord of gangsters.
Scarface is very well crafted epic, deals with facts of Drug dealers and underworld, Scarface does not glamorize the bad world, Moreover their is a bit morality in the movie.
Movie is a real treat for Pacino Fans, though viewers who keep themselves away from watching violence should refrain from this movie as well. This is not their Taste.
